#1: Super Mario played on a plastic ruler
Yes, it is a bit out of tune, but the fella is doing that on a plastic ruler. I wish I could have done that in school, I’d have been the coolest kid in class.
Well, perhaps not. But I might at least have been cooler than the smelly one who wore Babylon 5 memorabilia.
Actually, I wouldn’t have been cooler than him either. He was me.
#2: Joe Pleiman – The Legend of Zelda
It does sound a bit like System of a Down, and there is a video on youtube with this song dubbed over a SOAD video, which took me in for a time. But it is actually Joe Pleiman. Bless him, whoever the hell he is.
#3: Supersonic by HWA featuring Sonic the Hedgehog
The early 90s: was there anything that producers wouldn’t sample?
Still, this at least has more charm than that Tetris cover that charted around the same time.
#4: Final Fantasy X on theramin
Theramins are pretty tricky, and this rendition of a Final Fantasy theme is uncannily accurate.
#5: Super Mario Theme on ocarina
One of the various versions of the Zelda theme on ocarina would’ve been more appropriate, for sure, but all the ones I could find were just too awful, particularly this unfortunate looking chap.
#6: Back to the Future “remix” played on Mario Paint
“Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads!” Mario Paint’s longest-lasting legacy was its composer, which has been used to create hundreds of songs that should be too complex for the limited system.
#7: Sonic – Green Hill Zone on slap bass
Unlike literally trillions of boring fuckers playing guitar versions of the Mario theme, this geezer brings the funk. Kinda.
#8: Super Mario Brothers – beatboxing flute
With 13 million views on youtube, beatboxing flute guy is a bit famous for this blog, but we couldn’t really ignore him. He’s great!
#9: Tetris theme on church organ during service
“…make us faithfull servants of Christ, our king. Amen.”
And then the service finishes and Tetris plays them out.
