burst couch
Janek Schaefer & Cottrell/Kopecek/Hunter @ Burst Couch
I admittedly know very little about drone music and sound art. I know some of it is brilliant though, and Burst Couch always seems to come up with the goods. They had Graham Massey on last time. This time it was headlined by the apparently legendary Janek Schaefer, who played at a wooden throne mangling weird noises from some strange box through effects pedals. See how much I know about this stuff? Pictured above: Cottrell/Kopecek/Hunter of Concrete Moniker Records.
Burst Couch Electronica

Bust Couch is Manchester’s longest running Electronica night. I’ve had trouble finding decent non-dancefloor nights of this ilk recently, but this one definitely makes up for it.
Now in it’s new venue at St.Clement’s Church, upgraded from the shitty function room above some pub, it’s the best chin-stroking you’ll get this side of Aphex Twin’s pants. Or something like that. The last one had visuals by Cycloptic (who I was going on about before), music from Disco Operating System, Parking Non Stop, and the mighty Two Grahams.
The Two Grahams, if you haven’t heard of them, are Graham Massey – a founding member of 808 State – and Graham Clark, a jazz violinist who has played with Elbow and Gong amongst others. Together, well, you need to hear them
More pictures after the jump…. and get down to the next one!
